The Accelerated Data Program (ADP) provides technical and financial support to survey data documentation and dissemination, and improvement of survey methods.
The IHSN does not have ownership and is not mandated to disseminate country microdata. But we maintain a central survey catalog, and provide links to national or international databanks. Two national IHSN toolkit trainings were organized in Agboville, Côte d’Ivoire, in the context of the implementation of the Accelerated Data Program in the country.
The Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) upgraded their NADA system. This was done with the assistance of the Ghana Statistical Service. See the catalog at www.lisgis.org/nada.
The Toolkit course was conducted in Aguascalientes in September 2009. Three representatives from the Central Russian Statistics Offices (ROSSTAT) visited the OECD offices to receive an introduction to the Toolkit and best practices in data archiving. This document produced by the Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social research (ICPSR) provides basic guidance for managers in statistical agencies who are responsible for preserving data using the principles and good practice defined by the digital preservation community.
The IHSN is a partnership of international organizations seeking to improve the availability, quality and use of survey data in developing countries. This informal network was established as a recommendation of the Marrakech Action Plan for Statistics.
The IHSN is served by a light Secretariat managed by the World Bank Development Data Group and the Paris21 Secretariat at OECD.
