SIAP Training includes IHSN Toolkit (Chiba, Japan, 10-11 November 2009)

The IHSN Toolkit was introduced to the participants of the 5th Group Training Course in Modules on Fundamental Official Statistics conducted by the UN Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) in Chiba, Japan. The course has 19 participants coming from 14 countries, namely: Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Iran, Kiribati, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Philippines, Samoa, Tajikistan, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Viet Nam. The course started on 5 October 2009 and will end on 19 March 2010.

The two days were spent on lectures and exercises covering the module on Data Dissemination, Management and Documentation. The Toolkit was presented as a complete tool to facilitate the said activities and exercises were focused on its use. The participants will undertake survey work which will serve as the culminating activity of the course. Documentation of the survey using the Toolkit will be one of the required outputs.
