IHSN/ADP and SIAP hand in hand on microdata management ! (Chiba, 18-22 June 2012)

The IHSN tools, guidelines and standards were introduced to the participants of the 3rd Group Training Course in Application of Information Management and Related ICT for Official Statistics conducted by the UN Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) in Chiba, Japan.
The course has 20 participants from 11 countries, namely: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cook Islands, Ethiopia, Georgia, Myanmar, Rwanda, Thailand. Timor-Leste, Uzbekistan and Viet Nam. The participants are government officials from statistical offices and from the ministries of communication and information technology, justice, education, and immigration and population.
Three days during midterm of the course were spent on lectures and exercises on the following topics: Data Dissemination, Data Management and Archiving, and Survey Documentation. Given the course project to design a household survey and develop its data processing system, the participants agreed that the Toolkit was the best option to document and present their outputs at the end of the course.
